Many people, when making a purchase, do not understand the difference between surface mount machines and plug-in machines? Which one is better to use? And it's difficult to make a choice, today let's take you to understand the difference between surface mount machines and plug-in machines.
The difference between a plug-in machine and a surface mount machine, which one is more expensive
Plug in machine is a machine that automatically installs programmed electronic components onto printed circuit boards. The traditional electronic assembly industry mainly relies on workers inserting electronic components onto circuit boards. Since machines began mass production, the slow speed and poor craftsmanship of manual plugins have been exposed. Using a plug-in machine to automatically install electronic components on circuit boards can save labor costs and improve the level of plug-in technology.
The operation of plug-in machines basically includes components such as capacitors, inductors, connectors, etc. The engineering personnel in the design process will divide the workload and rationality of the plug-in parts at each workstation. Each machine is only responsible for installing a few components and repeating the same operation to minimize the chance of errors.
Advantages of Alien Plugin Machine
1. Increase installation density;
2. Improve anti vibration ability;
3. Enhance frequency characteristics;
4. Improve labor efficiency;
5. Reduce production costs.
Surface Mount System: also known as a "mounting machine" or "surface mount system", it is a device that is installed after a dispensing machine or screen printing machine in a production line. It is a device that accurately places surface mount components on PCB pads by moving the mounting head. It is divided into two types: manual and fully automatic.
The fully automatic surface mount machine is a device used to achieve high-speed and high-precision fully automatic placement of components, and is the most critical and complex equipment in the entire SMT production. Surface mount machine is the main equipment in the SMT production line. Surface mount machine has evolved from early low-speed mechanical surface mount machine to high-speed optical alignment surface mount machine, and has developed towards multifunctional and flexible modular connection.
1. The types, specifications, mounting direction, substrate size, and mounting range of components that can be mounted comply with the specifications in the instruction manual;
2. SMT speed: The CPH mounting rate tested with 1608 chip elements shall not be less than 60% of the nominal IPC9850 speed, or the SPC speed shall not be greater than twice the nominal speed;
3. The flying rate shall not exceed 3 ‰.
The surface mount components and direct plug-in components of electronic components have the same function, but the packaging form is different. The fundamental difference is that plugins have pins, and when installed on a PCB, PCB holes need to be drilled and soldered through the PCB; As the name suggests, a patch is attached like a plaster, but it also requires soldering. The contact surface between the PCB and the device is flat.
For some small signal devices, such as resistors, ceramic capacitors, control chips, etc., using surface mount technology is superior to plug-in technology because the production process is easier to control, the defect rate is lower, and some materials are more expensive than plug-in technology. But compared to the plug-in, it has poorer seismic resistance.
For power type devices such as electrolytic capacitors, power resistor plugs are better than surface mount devices. Because power devices generate more heat, the heat dissipation of the plug-in is better than that of the surface mount.
The working principle of the automatic plug-in machine and the surface mount machine is the same. In summary, the difference is that the surface mount machine attaches chip components to the PCB board, while the plug-in machine inserts pin components into the PCB board.
Plug in machines came out relatively early, and early circuit board products were all plug-in. Later on, with the development, plug-in components were replaced by surface mount components. So the SMT machine also emerged.
In addition, plug-in machines mostly have machine structures and fewer intelligent structures, while surface mount machines, on the other hand, use sensors and cameras to identify components, resulting in a higher degree of intelligence.
The prices of surface mount machines and plug-in machines are not comparable due to different brands. When it comes to components, surface mount machines are slightly more expensive because of different materials and production processes. For example, surface mount resistors require silver palladium alloy paste, which is relatively more expensive than plug-in machines.
The above is the difference between the irregular plug-in machine and the surface mount machine. Both devices have their advantages, and the specific selection needs to be based on the product requirements.
